|
Welcome to the monthly update for the residents and communities of the Birstall, Wanlip & Broadnook Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
Residential Burglaries
Officers have maintained targeted patrols in identified hotspot areas, alongside continued engagement with residents to provide reassurance and practical crime prevention advice. This proactive and visible approach has strengthened community confidence and encouraged vigilance.
As a result, there has been a clear reduction in offending. Ongoing patrol activity and consistent prevention messaging will continue to build on this positive trend and help sustain the progress achieved.
Youth-Related ASB (Antisocial Behaviour)
Enhanced evening and weekend patrols have been deployed in areas of concern, offering reassurance to residents and reducing the likelihood of incidents escalating. Officers are taking a proactive and proportionate approach, identifying those involved early and addressing behaviour's before they become more serious.
Strong partnership working with youth services, schools, and other agencies is supporting long-term solutions. By focusing on early intervention, diversion, and support opportunities, we are seeing encouraging progress in preventing repeat behaviour.
Vehicle-Related Crime
Officers continue to make effective use of enforcement powers, including those under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, in known hotspot areas. The introduction of high-visibility signage has reinforced this activity, acting as a strong deterrent and raising awareness of enforcement presence.
Collaborative work with the local council and businesses is delivering positive steps toward long-term prevention, including environmental improvements and joint initiatives that enhance security and reduce vulnerability. Additionally, the recent training of more officers in mobile speed-camera operations strengthens our capacity for proactive patrols and targeted enforcement, supporting continued progress in tackling vehicle-related offending.
